Hugo Farmer is an associate in the firm’s International Dispute Resolution Group based in London and a member of the firm’s Special Situations Group. His practice focuses on complex commercial disputes.

Mr. Farmer has experience working on a broad range of contentious matters across a variety of jurisdictions and industries. Mr. Farmer’s experience includes representing clients in cross-border litigation, contentious restructurings, bankruptcy and insolvency litigation, commercial arbitration, and regulatory investigations.

Mr. Farmer is recommended for commercial litigation by The Legal 500 UK (2024), where he is said to “drive solutions that work,” and where clients have described him as “an excellent associate, commercial in his advice, thorough in his work.”

Mr. Farmer joined Debevoise in 2018, prior to which he practised at a magic circle law firm in London and a leading law firm in New Zealand. Mr. Farmer received a Master of Laws (with a High Honors GPA) from the University of Chicago in 2017. He received a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland in 2014, where he was a senior editor of the Auckland University Law Review. Mr. Farmer has had articles published in the Journal of Law & Commerce and the Public Interest Law Journal of New Zealand.

Mr. Farmer was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2014.
