Several messenger services have been blocked in Russia for violating Internet data facilitators’ rules, including for the refusal to provide information required for the maintenance of the Register of Internet data facilitators.
Twitter decided to transfer personal data of its Russian users to Russian servers by mid 2018.
Russian Ministry of Communications and Mass Media proposes to amend the definition of cross-border transfer of data in the Personal Data Law to include any transfers of personal data abroad.
