27 July 2018
View Debevoise Update
The UK Government has launched a consultation proposing reforms designed to strengthen its powers to protect national security in acquisitions of assets or entities by foreign investors.
Under the proposals, parties will be encouraged to notify the Government in advance of transactions that may give rise to national security risks. The proposals are expected to result in an increase in Government intervention in acquisitions by foreign investors.
No fixed time frame has been set for implementation of the proposals, but the impact on cross-border investment into the UK could be significant.
