International law firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP has launched an updated version of its widely used guide to the legal, business and tax issues involved in sponsoring a private fund.

Known in the market as the private funds “cookbook”, the guide is authored by senior members of Debevoise’s Funds/Investment Management Group and provides an in-depth look at the key issues and considerations involved in fund formation.

First published nearly 30 years ago, the cookbook remains one of the most complete and practical resources in the market. The latest edition includes important updates that reflect changes stemming from rapid growth in the industry and increasing complexity in the structuring of funds.

The launch of the updated cookbook coincides with a period of remarkable growth, both for the private funds industry as well as Debevoise's Funds/Investment Management Group. The practice had a record-breaking 2024 and continues to be one of the largest and most diverse practices of its kind in the world. The Debevoise team has experience acting on behalf of sponsors of, or investors in, more than 3,400 private investment funds with committed capital of well over $5.5 trillion.
