John Young is a London-based counsel and member of the firm’s Funds/Investment Management Group. He advises asset managers on a wide range of regulatory issues impacting the sector, including AIFMD and MiFID. He also advises asset managers on environmental, social and governance matters, including sustainability reporting, climate change, social impact and corporate sustainability due diligence.

Recommended by The Legal 500 UK (2024), Mr. Young’s experience includes advising investment managers and other financial institutions on the UK and EU regulatory framework, including the AIFMD, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive and EMIR; the regulatory aspects of private equity fund-raisings in the EU; acquisitions of financial services businesses and the establishment of FCA regulated offices in the UK. Mr. Young also advises investment managers on the EU’s framework for environmental, social and governance considerations in investment management, the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and adherence to a wide range of ESG reporting frameworks and initiatives.

Mr. Young is a member of a number of industry working groups and regularly commentates on regulatory issues in numerous industry outlets.

Mr. Young received his MA from the University of Oxford in 1996. He is admitted to practise in England & Wales (2000).
