Juan Fandino is a litigation associate and a member of the International Dispute Resolution Group.

Mr. Fandino joined Debevoise in 2019. From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Fandino was an associate in the dispute resolution and bankruptcy practice groups at a leading international firm in Bogotá. From 2012 to 2013, he was a law clerk in the Civil Circuit Court of Bogotá.

Mr. Fandino received an LL.M. from New York University School of Law in 2019, specializing in International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration, where he received a Dean’s Scholar Award. He received an LL.M. int. in International Law from Heidelberg University in 2014, and was awarded a full scholarship by the German Service of Academic Exchange. Mr. Fandino’s master’s thesis, entitled “The Role of Constitutional Courts in International Investment Law and Investment Treaty Arbitration: a Latin American Perspective” was published in the Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law. He received his law degree from Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 2012, where he graduated first in his class.

Mr. Fandino is a Mentor in the 2022-2023 Young ITA’s Mentorship Program, a member of the list of Secretaries of Arbitral Tribunals of the Arbitration and Conciliation Centre of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, and a co-founder and board member of Colombian Very Young Arbitration Practitioners (COLVYAP).

Mr. Fandino is admitted to practice in Colombia and New York. He is fluent in English and Spanish, and is proficient in Italian.
