Mark Flinn is counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office and a member of the White Collar & Regulatory Defense Group.
Drawing on his experience as an auditor and a certified public accountant, Mr. Flinn advises clients on complex legal matters at the intersection of securities law, accounting, auditing, and financial reporting. His practice encompasses government and internal investigations, securities enforcement defense, securities litigation, and regulatory compliance. Mr. Flinn’s accounting and auditing background enables him to assess the legal and technical dimensions of financial reporting matters, work effectively with accountants, auditors, and other financial professionals, and translate complex financial issues into practical legal advice.
Mr. Flinn regularly represents public companies, financial institutions, asset management firms, accounting firms, and individuals in investigations and enforcement proceedings conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
Mr. Flinn received his J.D. in 2015 from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as a senior editor of The Tax Lawyer. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from James Madison University in 2009, with a major in accounting. Before attending law school, Mr. Flinn worked at KPMG LLP where he audited public companies. He is a certified public accountant licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
