A deal which saw Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (“OTPP”) invest up to $1 billion in the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (“NIIF”) has won the Private Equity Deal of the Year at the inaugural IFLR1000 India Awards.
A team from Debevoise & Plimpton LLP’s Hong Kong office advised OTPP in the investment, which saw the pension fund invest alongside other leading global and domestic institutional investors.
NIIF invests in infrastructure and related sectors in India, and is anchored by the Government of India. It provides a collaborative investment platform for international and Indian investors who are looking for investment opportunities in infrastructure and other high-growth sectors of the country.
The IFLR1000 India Awards are based on months of research into the Indian market and its most defining and innovative transactions, focusing on deals that closed between May 31, 2019 and May 31, 2020.
