Debevoise’s Investment Management and Intellectual Property Groups Recognized as Law360 “Practice Groups of the Year”

30 November 2020

Two practice groups of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, the Investment Management Group and Intellectual Property Group, have been recognized as 2020 “Practice Groups of the Year” by Law360. These annual awards recognize work done by transactional, litigation and regulatory lawyers across 38 categories. According to Law360, this year’s award recipients were chosen from more than 800 submissions.

Debevoise’s Investment Management Group is a recognized leader in the private funds industry, having advised sponsors of, or investors in, more than 2,800 private investment funds with committed capital of well over $3 trillion. With a global regulatory network and deep international experience, the practice counsels across the entire life cycle of these complex products and vehicles – covering organization and economic arrangements for sponsors, fund formation, downstream transactions, exits, firm and fund restructurings, buy-side work, secondaries and wind downs. In June, the firm opened its Luxembourg office to further serve its private capital clients.

Debevoise’s Intellectual Property Group is recognized by clients and adversaries alike as one of the strongest practices in the country. The Group handles a wide variety of cases in trial, appellate and Supreme courts nationwide, before federal and industry regulators, and in mediations and arbitrations, including those involving the most complex trademark, trade dress and advertising disputes; copyright and right of publicity matters in media and entertainment; and unfair competition, trade secret and patent cases. The Group has expanded this year, with the promotion of Megan Bannigan as partner; in addition, practice chair David H. Bernstein was recently recognized as a Law360 MVP.
