Debevoise & Plimpton LLP litigation partner and former federal court judge John Gleeson, was profiled in Bloomberg Law about the firm’s successful pro bono initiative, The Holloway Project, which advocates on behalf of prisoners, largely men of color, against unjust, mandatory stacked prison sentences. The Holloway Project, led by Mr. Gleeson and with the help of over 100 lawyers at the firm, has aided in shaving off more than 1,100 years in prison time so far for 34 prisoners in total. Commenting on the future of the project, Mr. Gleeson said, “People change over 20 years and what our project has proven is that now there is a way for even people who committed violent crimes with firearms to get a second look.”
