The Holloway Project, founded by Debevoise partner and former federal judge John Gleeson, creates legal pathways for relief for prisoners serving excessively long sentences resulting from now-defunct mandatory sentencing provisions. The firm has represented clients in several courts of appeal concerning whether the United States Sentencing Guidelines allow courts to consider whether a nonretroactive change in law, along with other factors, can be an “extraordinary and compelling” reason for a sentence reduction under 18 U.S.C. § 3582(c)(1)(A)(i).
