Debevoise & Plimpton LLP lawyers Shanna Adler, Courtney Bradford Pike, Tigist Kassahun and Justice Walters have presented the “LLC Basics Workshop” hosted by the NYC Black Chamber of Commerce and Brooklyn Legal Services. The presentation provided insight on the difference between structuring a business as a sole proprietorship, an LLC, or a corporation, by outlining business structure formation requirements, discussing relevant required governance documents, and highlighting the tax implications of those legal structures.
Legal Services NYC’s (“LSNYC”) Community Economic Development unit has been working to provide legal support to nonprofits and small businesses. As part of this work, LSNYC is collaborating with the NYC Black Chamber of Commerce, which serves over 300 minority members that have contracts with the city and other entrepreneurs, to develop a workshop series.
