Debevoise Lawyers Recognized by Managing IP’s 2025 “IP Stars” Lists

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP intellectual property litigation partners David Bernstein, Jay Neukom and Megan Bannigan have been recognized by Managing IP’s 2025 “IP Stars” list. The IP Stars lists rank senior practitioners who are leaders in intellectual property, taking into account expertise, workload and outcomes achieved for clients. The firm was also ranked Tier 1 for its trademark disputes practice.

Mr. Bernstein and Ms. Bannigan were named 2025 Trademark Stars in New York and nationally for their deep experience on trademark, trade dress, copyright and other disputes across a broad range of client industries. The Debevoise IP group has reinforced its standing as the elite fighting force of the IP world with major trademark victories including for Novartis, Snap, Casa Azul Spirits and WEX, all of which were recognized by The American Lawyer’s Litigator of the Week column.

Additionally, Mr. Neukom was recognized as a 2025 Patent Star in California and nationally for his extensive experience advising major Bay Area and multinational companies on complex business and intellectual property disputes, including patent and copyright infringement and trade secret misappropriation matters. Among his numerous achievements, Mr. Neukom successfully dismissed over 120 data compression patent claims asserted against his client Fortinet and is defending GAF Materials against patent infringement claims by a rival over software used in aerial roof survey techniques.

Managing IP also named Ms. Bannigan to its “Top 250 Women in IP” list, which recognizes female IP practitioners who performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past year. This is Ms. Bannigan’s fourth consecutive year being named to the “Top Women in IP” list.
