Veronika Polakova is an associate in the Tax Department and Private Fund Transactions Group based in the firm’s London office. Her practice focuses on U.S. tax aspects of the establishment and operation of investment funds across a range of strategies, including private equity, debt, secondaries and venture capital. She also advises clients on U.S. tax aspects of a variety of private equity transactions, carry planning and co-investment arrangements.

Ms. Polakova is committed to the firm’s pro bono initiatives and is a member of the team of lawyers that received an International Bar Association Group Member Award in 2018 in recognition of their involvement in the eyeWitness project, an initiative that harnesses the power of technology to bridge the gap between the documenters of grave human rights violations and the requirements of justice mechanisms.

Ms. Polakova joined Debevoise in 2018. She received a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2016 and a B.A. with distinction and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia in 2011, where she was an Echols Scholar. Prior to law school, she worked at a public policy think tank in Washington, D.C., focusing on fiscal policy research. She is fluent in Czech and Slovak.
