Debevoise Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Again Receives Top Rankings from World Trademark Review 1000

8 February 2024

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice has once again ranked in the gold band for the United States and New York in the World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000, an annual guide that identifies the top trademark professionals in key jurisdictions.

The 2024 edition recognized the firm’s trademark team for being “one of only a handful of practices in the United States unanimously hailed as among the very best” for “cutting-edge disputes and bet-the-company trademark litigation.” The guide also recognized two partners and two counsel for their exceptional capabilities:

Partner David Bernstein who is also chair of the practice and ranked in the gold band nationally and in New York, is described as “indisputably one of the very best trademark lawyers in the country.” WTR also recognized Mr. Bernstein for his leadership of the practice, which has helped grow the group’s footprint on the West Coast while also “continuing to go from strength to strength in New York.”

Partner Megan Bannigan, ranked in the silver band nationally and in New York, is described as “one of the best trademark lawyers” and “involved in some of the country’s most high-profile and innovative matters.” WTR also recognized Ms. Bannigan for her role in leading Rhode-NYC in its dispute with Hailey Bieber’s skincare line with the same name, and defending StockX in an NFT-related dispute against Nike.

Counsel Jared Kagan, ranked in the bronze band in New York, is described as being strategic and impressive, and that his “responsiveness and the quality of his work inspire confidence.” WTR also recognized Mr. Kagan for his work advising Grubhub in its dispute against Kroger and Home Chef, and Fox Sports in its dispute related to the launch of its new football league, the United States Football League.

Counsel Christopher Ford, who is based in the firm’s San Francisco office, has also been ranked in the bronze band in California for the first time this year.
