Aimee-Jane Lee is a counsel in the firm’s International Dispute Resolution Group and is based in the London office. Her practice focuses on international commercial arbitration and litigation, and public international law.
Ms. Lee has advised private clients and states across multiple jurisdictions (notably in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe) and a number of industries, including mining, construction, hospitality, advertising and, especially, energy. She has represented clients in arbitrations conducted under the auspices of the main institutions and governed by a variety of substantive and procedural legal systems.
Ms. Lee advises on the international protection of investments (notably under bilateral investment treaties, the Energy Charter Treaty and investor-state contracts) and represents her clients in associated disputes. She has also advised extensively on maritime boundary issues, treaty drafting and interpretation, the interaction between public international law and domestic law, international sanctions and human rights. Following a six-month secondment to the legal department of Liberty, the human rights organisation, she has continued to work, pro bono, on human rights issues, notably in relation to proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights and submissions to the United Nations.
Noted by The Legal 500 UK as “an exceptional talent,” Ms. Lee is recommended for International Arbitration and Public International Law in the 2025 edition of the guide. The guide notes that she is “one of the maximum horsepower intellects in the firm as a whole, and can be trusted to bring true excellence to her matters.” She has also been described as “the superstar in the group,” who is “whip smart and has excellent attention to detail” and “has a good sense of balance, both in making arguments and in managing clients.” She is recommended for Public International Law in Chambers UK (2025), where she is described as a “public international law specialist” and an “exceptional and a really standout lawyer” who is “goal-oriented and makes arguments in a strong and concise manner.” Sources have also said she is “brilliant,” “she is very strong and runs cases with perfect footwork” and she is “an outstanding individual. In addition to her legal experience, Ms. Lee has passed Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the CFA exams (Chartered Financial Analyst). She is therefore particularly proficient in assisting clients with quantum-related aspects of their dispute and liaising with quantum experts.

Ms. Lee received her first B.A. (Hons) in 2001 from Oxford University (Worcester College) and her second B.A. (Hons) from Cambridge University (Jesus College) in 2003. She is admitted to practise in England & Wales (2006).
