Debevoise & Plimpton LLP’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice has once again ranked in the gold band for the United States and New York in the World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000, an annual guide that identifies the top trademark professionals in key jurisdictions.

The 2025 edition recognized the firm’s trademark team for being “revered by clients and peers alike” and “best known for handling the most cutting-edge IP disputes at the forefront of business evolution.” The guide also recognized two partners and two counsel for their exceptional capabilities:

Partner David Bernstein who is also chair of the practice and ranked in the gold band nationally and in New York, is described as “a leading light in the sphere and a luminary to many” who “needs no introduction for his renowned trademark litigation prowess.” WTR also recognized Mr. Bernstein for his leadership of the practice and for his work advising Snap Inc, along with counsel Jared Kagan, in a precedent-setting case regarding the genericness of ‘Spectacles’.

Partner Megan Bannigan, ranked in the silver band nationally and in New York, is described as a “hard hitter at the firm” and “who is always up to finding new solutions to every problem.” WTR also recognized Ms. Bannigan for her role in aiding X Corp in defending its right to the newly rebranded ‘X’ mark.

Counsel Jared Kagan, ranked in the bronze band in New York, is described as offering both counselling and litigation services, and that he “stays level-headed in the most contentious disputes.” WTR also recognized Mr. Kagan for his work advising Snap Inc, along with David Bernstein, regarding the genericness of ‘Spectacles’.

Counsel Christopher Ford, who is based in the firm’s New York office, has also been ranked in the bronze band for the second year in a row.
