Noah L. Schwartz is an associate in the Litigation Department and a member of the firm’s global Data Strategy & Security and National Security practice groups. His practice focuses on cybersecurity, data privacy, and data governance. He has led responses to ransomware attacks and data breaches across industries, advising on investigations, regulatory reporting, and crisis communications. He counsels clients on compliance with U.S. and global data protection laws, internal investigations and compliance with sector-specific cybersecurity regulations.
He is a co-author of the chapter on artificial intelligence in Practicing Law Institute’s second edition of “Cybersecurity: A Practical Guide to the Law of Cyber Risk.”
Mr. Schwartz joined Debevoise in 2021. From 2019 to 2021 he clerked for the Hon. Timothy M. Reif of the U.S. Court of International Trade. Mr. Schwartz received a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2019, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. While in law school, he served as an intern with the KKR Global Institute and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, and as a research assistant to former Deputy CIA Director Avril Haines and to Professor Zohar Goshen.
Mr. Schwartz received a B.A. magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Vanderbilt University in 2009 and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2010.
Before law school, he held several appointments in the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama. He was an aide to the Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics, and held other positions on the staff of the White House National Security Council and National Economic Council and at the Pentagon. Prior to his government service, he worked for the foreign policy advisor in former President Clinton’s office.
He is an active member of the New York City Bar Association, where he serves on the Technology, Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Committee and co-chair of the UJA-Federation of New York Young Lawyers Leadership Committee. He is also a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Mr. Schwartz is a member of the Bar of the State of New York and the District of Columbia.
