Ted Hassi is a litigation partner and member of the Antitrust Group. Named as Antitrust Litigator of the Year in the Benchmark Litigation U.S. Awards 2019 and recommended by Chambers USA (2023) and The Legal 500 US rankings (2023) for antitrust, his practice focuses on antitrust litigation and obtaining merger clearances in transactions reviewed by the U.S. antitrust agencies.

Mr. Hassi is a former FTC Chief Trial Counsel who from 2011–2014 led the agency’s work on matters that were or were likely to be tried, including high-profile challenges to several mergers and cases involving other anticompetitive practices.

As a strong transactional antitrust practitioner and an accomplished first chair trial lawyer, Mr. Hassi is a proven litigator and trusted counselor to clients navigating antitrust challenges. He regularly represents clients across an array of industries.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hassi has established himself as a respected thought leader, currently serving as a member of the MLex Advisory Board and regularly speaking at conferences and authoring articles on a range of antitrust subjects. A highly regarded member of the antitrust bar, he is a former U.S. Navy pilot who pursued law following a successful eight-year military career.

Mr. Hassi joined Debevoise in 2018. He received his J.D. cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, where he was also selected to the Order of the Coif, and earned a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy.
