EU Taxonomy Regulation
28 June 2021
View Debevoise In Depth
The Taxonomy Regulation is the European Union’s initiative for an EU-wide taxonomy, or classification system, of economic activities (such as renewable energy generation) that the European Union defines as environmentally sustainable.
The European Union has recently published its first set of “technical screening criteria” under the Taxonomy Regulation detailing the economic activities that contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation—the product of considerable technical work.
This Debevoise In Depth explains the contexts in which the Taxonomy Regulation will apply, its importance to funds that invest with sustainable objectives and the steps required for firms to assess the alignment of their investments to the Taxonomy.
