Debevoise Names Seven New Counsel

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP announces that Julia Ahn, Emily Austin, Daniel Hoborough, Anna Moore, Veronika Polakova, Rachel Stables and Heng (David) Wan have been named counsel to the firm. Their promotions became effective on January 1.

Julia Ahn is based in the Paris office and a member of the Investment Management Group. Her practice focuses on advising sponsors of private equity funds, co-investment vehicles and separately managed accounts across numerous sectors and strategies, including buyout, credit and infrastructure funds. Ms. Ahn received her J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 2016 and her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011.

Emily Austin is based in the Hong Kong office and a member of the Litigation Department. Her practice focuses on contentious regulatory matters, investigations and a range of complex commercial litigation for financial services, corporate and private clients. Ms. Austin received her LL.M. from University College London in 2011, a Master 1 in International Law (Droit International) from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas in 2006 and her LL.B. and B.A. from the University of Melbourne in 2006. Ms. Austin is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, the State of Victoria, Australia and the Federal Courts and High Court of Australia.

Daniel Hoborough is based in the London office and a member of the Finance Group. His practice focuses on advising borrowers, lenders, sponsors and financial institutions on a wide range of financings, with a focus on fund finance transactions. Mr. Hoborough completed the GDL and LPC at BPP Law School in 2011 and 2012, respectively, and received his M.A. (Hons) from the University of St Andrews in 2010.

Anna Moore is based in the London office and a member of the Finance Group. Her practice focuses on advising borrowers, sponsors and lenders across a broad range of financing transactions, with a particular focus on fund finance transactions across various asset classes. Ms. Moore received her Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2010 and her BCL from the National University of Ireland in 2007.

Veronika Polakova is based in the London office and a member of the Tax Department. Her practice focuses on U.S. tax aspects of the establishment and operation of investment funds across a range of strategies, including private equity, debt, secondaries and venture capital, and a variety of private equity transactions, carry planning and co-investment arrangements. Ms. Polakova received her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2016 and her B.A. from the University of Virginia in 2011.

Rachel Stables is based in the London office and a member of the Investment Management Group. Her practice focuses on advising sponsors of private investment funds, co-investment vehicles and separately managed accounts across numerous sectors and strategies, including buyout, emerging markets and credit funds, on fund formation and ongoing operational matters. Ms. Stables received her LPC from BPP Law School in 2015 and her B.A. from the University of Oxford in 2014.

David Wan is based in the Hong Kong office and a member of the Investment Management Group. His practice focuses on private fund formation, co-investment, carried interest arrangements, GP-led secondaries including continuation fund transactions, and select investor-side representations. Mr. Wan received his PCLL and J.D. from the University of Hong Kong in 2014 and 2013, respectively. He is admitted to practice law in Hong Kong and New York.
