Catherine Amirfar is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department whose practice focuses on international litigation and arbitration, and commercial litigation. She routinely acts as counsel in complex arbitration cases, and her recent representations include disputes involving Latin America and disputes dealing with the gas and energy and financial industry sectors. Based on surveys of other practitioners, she was recently identified as one of the leading international arbitration practitioners in the country by Chambers USA 2010, which said that she is “viewed as ‘an emerging star in international arbitration’,” and “plays a key role” in the firm’s public international law practice. Ms. Amirfar has also acted as counsel in a wide variety of commercial litigation in U.S. courts, including a jury trial arising from environmental damage to a sustainable rainforest operation in Argentina, a patent infringement case before the International Trade Commission, and a breach of fiduciary duty case involving over a billion dollars in alleged damages.
